In this episode David reflects on the serendipitous professional and personal events that became the catalysts for writing Attachment and Psychotherapy. Part of this journey was intersection of attachment theory with his own exploration of Bhuddist philosophy and mindful awareness into his experiential knowing of self. We also talk about the non-verbal, embodied implications of attachment theory and how the therapist’s own attachment style plays a role in the relational exchange. Lastly, how accessing the “third” position is important for accessing therapeutic clarity.
